The QSC KS118 is a large-format subwoofer with some excellent DSP options and powerful amplification. The KS118 offers 3600-watts of clean and efficient Class D amplification, resulting in a maximum output of 136 dB SPL. QSC have also developed DSP features for this subwoofer, providing DEEP mode which extends your low-end down to 35 Hz, and a scene functionality to save and load specific setups and settings to adapt to any scenario. The KS118 also has manually adjustable crossover frequency and speaker delay functions for setting up a cohesive sound within your venue. It also has omnidirectional and cardioid firing modes, whilst cardioid firing requires two units functioning together, this helps control bass and prevent feedback. This subwoofer’s tough birch plywood enclosure and durable casters make it extremely portable, with an M20 threaded pole receiver for setting up full-range speakers on top for easy setup. DEEP™ mode The KS118 comes equipped with new, proprietary DSP called DEEP mode, which extends low-frequency response and delivers clear, snappy transients. With this mode engaged, this subwoofer goes all the way down to 35 Hz, providing huge sub-frequencies to add extra thump and presence to the bass of any gig. Recallable scenes Live shows can throw a lot of challenges and things to suddenly adapt to your way. New bands, new instruments, and differently-sized crowds can all change the response of a venue, so ensuring that your bass is controlled is the best way to get a balanced mix and prevent feedback on-stage. With the KS118’s scenes mode, you can store specific settings to fit certain setups, maybe you want a cardioid subwoofer array one night, and then you want to stack a pole-mounted full-range PA on top the next. With scenes, you can keep all of the options that you need to do this and sound great in the process, saving and recalling crossover, speaker delays, omnidirectional or cardioid radiation, and DEEP mode settings. Portability Subwoofers are big, heavy and tough to move. The KS118’s relatively lightweight but durable birch plywood enclosure, heavy-duty casters, and side-mounted handles make this much easier to move around or between venues for bands and engineers on the go, or when you need to change your setup.
