Black Ginger, scientifically known as Kaempferia parviflora, is a medicinal herb native to Thailand and parts of Southeast Asia. It belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, which is the same family as regular ginger and turmeric. Despite its name, Black Ginger isnt the same as common gingerit has distinct properties and uses, especially in traditional medicine. Its rhizome (underground stem) has a deep purplish-black color, giving it the nickname Black Ginger or sometimes Thai Ginseng due to its energizing properties.
